Project Overview:
We had the privilege of partnering with the PRESCOM Department, Mizoram Synod, to develop a comprehensive Custom Point of Sale (POS) software for the Synod Bookroom, one of the largest store chains in Mizoram. Selected to replace their long-standing legacy software, this project was a challenging yet rewarding endeavor aimed at modernizing their complex retail and inventory operations. The goal was to build a robust, scalable solution that could handle high-volume sales while streamlining workflows across their extensive network of branches.
Scope of Work:
- Design and Development: We engineered a high-performance, custom web application utilizing a modern technology stack comprising Laravel, React, and MySQL. The system was designed to handle complex data processing while providing a fast, intuitive user interface for daily retail operations.
- Comprehensive Inventory & POS: We developed a full-featured Point of Sale interface tailored specifically to the Bookroom’s workflow. This includes advanced inventory management, automated barcode generation and printing, seamless thermal receipt printer integration, and accurate, automated GST calculations.
- Supplier & Multi-Branch Management: To support their extensive network, we built features for complete multi-branch management. This includes real-time branch-wise stock tracking, secure inter-branch stock transfers, and automated indenting. We also integrated a dedicated module for managing “Sales or Return” (SOR) agreements with various suppliers.
- Reporting & Analytics: We implemented a robust reporting engine that provides administrators with deep, real-time insights into sales data, daily transactions, stock movements, and overall branch performance to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Training: We provided comprehensive, hands-on training to the Prescom Department staff and Synod Bookroom branch workers, ensuring a smooth and confident transition from their old system to the newly developed platform.
Results:
The new Custom POS software has successfully transformed the daily operations of the Synod Bookroom. Despite the technical challenges of migrating from a deeply entrenched legacy system, the deployment earned great feedback from both the department leadership and the frontline branch workers. The solution has significantly improved checkout speeds, eliminated inventory discrepancies across branches, and modernized their entire retail management process.
